Julia Maia is a writer/director/producer and production designer born and raised in Goiânia-GO, Brazil. In 2015, she attended Whangaparaoa College in New Zealand for her senior year in high school, in an exchange program. A year later, she moved to Los Angeles, CA to study Film. Maia finished her credits and graduated with her associate degree in Cinematography & Editing from Glendale Community College (GCC). Soon after, she began her studies at New York Film Academy (NYFA), in the BFA Filmmaking program. In her time at NYFA, she has produced, directed and written short films such as “Daddy Issues” and “Between Two Cliffs”. She has also dedicated her time to focus on pursuing her dream career in the Art Department, having taken the role of Production Design Assistant, Art Director and Production Designer in shorts such as “Before Everything Changes” and “Room Service”. Maia just finished working on productions for a thesis film written and directed by Sam Ogunremi (“Nebuchadnezzar”), another thesis film by Zoey Hudson (“The Crit”), a short film written and starred by Amber Tiara, and finally a student thesis film by Mara Knight called “Where the Flowers Grow”.
